Hero Electric Optima HX
It’s safe to say that electric vehicles are becoming more and more popular, as the future of automotive power sources looks like it’s in the direction of clean energy that doesn’t pollute our air or contribute to global warming. With this in mind, Hero Electric has introduced the Optima HX, a new electric scooter designed with everything you need to get around town in style and comfort, including a powerful engine, two riding modes and safety features like an anti-theft alarm system. Let’s look at how this sleek ride stacks up against other models in its class.
A Brief History of Hero Electric
The Indian two-wheeler industry is one of the most rapidly growing industries in India and has helped drive development across a number of other sectors as well. Hero launched Hero Cycles in 1980 and initially focused on low-cost bicycles for rural buyers. In 1983, Hero was renamed to Hero Honda Motors Limited after it entered into a joint venture with Honda Motor Co., Ltd. The company continued its focus on bicycles through 1986 but started producing three-wheelers in 1987, including cargo tricycles; motorcycles soon followed. In 1989, Hero introduced scooters and road bikes; by 1991 it had developed high-end mountain bikes as well. In 1993, Hero began selling low-cost high-end motorbikes to compete with Japanese brands like Suzuki and Yamaha.
The Design Team
Hero decided to entrust its latest offering to a team that has excelled at every other project it has handled, including luxury sedans and sporty coupes. The Hero Electric Optima is being conceptualized by Calty Design Research, Inc., which is based in Newport Beach, California. Calty Design Research is staffed with designers and engineers who hold multiple National Car Design Awards from their years of experience. Team members are true automotive enthusiasts with an intimate understanding of what works and what doesn’t in regards to design: they know how people want their cars to look and feel, both inside and out.
The Manufacturing Team
The team that worked on Hero Electric Optima was small—three senior engineers and one production engineer. Their goal was to make a product that represented Hero’s vision of providing long-term value to customers and one that other companies would look at with envy. To achieve this goal, they relied on deep understanding of customer needs, constant listening to feedback from across their organization and prioritizing products that helped develop relationships with consumers. From an engineering perspective, they made sure everything in their product lineup had global standards incorporated into it because India’s legal framework currently only supports vehicles that adhere to global standards.
The Technology
The Hero Electric Optima has a great, sleek design. It is one of their most stylish electric scooters in India, with a simple step-through design that allows you to be comfortable and in style when riding it. The electric scooter has a top speed of 20 km/h (12mph), which is more than enough for everyday city traffic conditions. A basic console display indicates speed and distance traveled so you can monitor your progress without needing to check your smartphone constantly. The 250W brushless motor means that acceleration from 0–6 km/h (0–4mph) takes 3 seconds—much faster than competing models on average!
Why Choose Hero Optima?
The Hero Electric Optima is a compact scooter with a powerful 350W motor. It provides comfortable ride and enables you to cruise on uneven streets with ease. It’s efficient, safe and stylish, making it great for all riders. If you live in a city, Hero Electric Optima is an economical option for short commutes and errands around town. At just under $500, it’s very affordable as well – perfect for first-time scooter buyers or urban commuters looking to save money by reducing gas expenses. On Hero’s online store, you can also find accessories for your Hero Optima such as helmets and charging cables at reasonable prices!
Test Drive Today!
If you’re in India, there’s a good chance you’ve seen one of these bikes zipping around. Made by Hero Motors, an Indian company with which two of my colleagues have had previous experience, it boasts impressive specs for an electric bike: It can hit top speeds of 50 km/h (about 31 mph) and has a range of 60 kilometers on a single charge. It is also light—about 40 kilograms (88 pounds)—and built to be rugged; it comes with three gears and disc brakes at both wheels. In short, if you live in India and have any inclination toward bikes—electric or otherwise—you should look into test-driving one today!
